Every state league competition has been postponed until May 31 due to the coronavirus.
The AFL released a statement on Monday night, confirming the following leagues would pause for at least the next 11 weeks: The VFL, SANFL, NEAFL, WAFL and TSL – and their women’s leagues.
Talent leagues for young players such as the NAB League are also set to pause.
“The decision was collectively agreed upon based on the part-time nature of these competitions and the financial implications for the State League clubs and State Leagues,” a league statement read.
“This decision is effective until May 31.
“The AFL will continue to explore all fixturing alternatives to ensure matches are played, however, acknowledges the situation is fluid and any decision made may change.”
Round 1 of the VFL was scheduled to begin on April 3.
